Dear Nurse Practitioner,

The Dilemma
As you know, there is widespread confusion surrounding the plethora of un-proven, un-scientific products purported to be “female sexual enhancers” that are presently on the market. Many of them make the un-substantiated claim that they are a “cure or a treatment for Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD)”. As pharmaceutical scientists and healthcare professionals ourselves, we know that claims of that type are only allowed for FDA approved drugs and medical devices.

So how do busy Nurse Practitioners and other Women’s Healthcare providers separate “fact from fiction” concerning all of these non-prescription herbal products? By using the same criteria that sexual medicine experts use to evaluate them -- which is, evaluating herbal products in the same scientific manner that FDA approved prescription-based pharmaceutical products are tested. The question becomes, do any of these herbal products have a well-designed, well-controlled clinical study conducted by independent recognized sexual medicine researchers to support their claims? Have their clinical study results been published in respected peer-reviewed medical journals? If the answer is no, then those products have not been scientifically proven to work and thus do not warrant your recommendation as viable options for women.

At present, there are only two (2) non-prescription products on the market that have successfully met those rigorous criteria – patented Zestra™ Feminine Arousal Fluid (topical) and Arginmax™ for Women (oral).

Setting The Record Straight
Topical Zestra™ demonstrated robust increases in female sexual arousal, pleasure and satisfaction in a well-designed, well-controlled clinical study conducted by several leading independent sexual medicine experts and scientists. It’s randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover clinical study results are published in respected medical journals such as the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy, DRUGS and The National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health - A Practical Journal for Nurse Practitioners. Zestra™ improved desire, satisfaction with sexual arousal, genital sensation, sexual pleasure, ability to have orgasms, and enhancement of sexual experiences in women with and without Female Sexual Arousal Disorder (FSAD). Women, Antidepressants and Sex
Another landmark study result was; Zestra™ eliminated the undesirable sexual side effects of SSRI antidepressants in women.

Zestra™ - The “First-Line” Choice
Zestra™ was designed by pharmaceutical scientists and women's sexual health experts to effectively address the sexual pleasure pathways that are specific to women. Non-prescription Zestra™ is the patented all-natural solution for most women who experience difficulty with sexual arousal, sensation, pleasure, orgasm and satisfaction. No other product has been proven to be more effective at increasing female sexual pleasure. Applied during foreplay and combined with tender massage, Zestra™ helps to lubricate and arouse delicate tissue.

Unlike other non-prescription options for women, Zestra™ Feminine Arousal Fluid is the first product of its kind that Women’s Health professionals and pharmacists can recommend with confidence.

Other Non-Prescription Products for Women – Buyer Beware
Topical: While other non-prescription topical products may claim to increase female pleasure -- none are supported by an appropriate clinical study, nor are any of those products published in the medical or scientific literature. Other topical products on the market are simply “novelty products” that use known "skin irritants" to produce sensation by irritating delicate clitoral and vaginal tissue (examples are -- menthol, orange oil, peppermint oil, methyl-isonicotinate, etc). Furthermore, most of those products also contain L-Arginine, which can re-activate an outbreak of genital herpes.

Oral: One widely marketed herbal pill, Avlimil®, contains Salvia Officinalis as its primary listed ingredient. Safety Warnings concerning Avlimil® have been published in physician, pharmacy and nursing journals advising healthcare professionals about the known neurotoxins in Salvia which can cause systemic side effects such as nausea, vomiting & hallucinations due to its thujone and isothujone content. Informed healthcare professionals are aware of these potentially serious risks and are advising their patients not to take that product.
